Having completed her ATT Cate now embarks on her pursuit to become a Charted Tax Adviser. She joined Edge back in 2014 as Personal Assistant and Office Manager, but showed potential when assisting with client projects and was offered the opportunity to study towards her qualifications.
She is currently responsible for managing the recurring compliance function at Edge whilst also providing support to Anton and James on complex HMRC disclosures and technical research. Her experience and performance at Edge has also lead to her being given management of less complex disclosure cases.
Cate’s attention to detail and organisation skills together with her personable demeanour means she is well placed in this “small, but perfectly formed” boutique tax practice.
In our last employment-status article we discussed the indicators of employment vs self-employment and the tax and NIC implications thereon. Given the recent ruling in the Uber case it seems that courts are leaning further towards an employee/employer relationship rather than that of an independent contractor.
